Screensavers, sleep modes are the functionalities which are very useful in protecting the power utilization and also save the computer screen from getting damaged by permanent exposure to an image.
However simple things like screensaver can sometimes be very irritating, specially when your work requires you to distract from your screen repeatedly. There are tools and freewares available, which allow you to stop and avoid screensaver activation or PC locking and prevent it from going into the sleep mode.
Caffeine is one such freeware tool. It works by simulating a keypress once every 59 seconds, so your machine thinks you’re still working at the keyboard, so won’t lock the screen or activate the screensaver.
The icon is shown above – it’s the leftmost one in the task tray, and this is all you see. Double-clicking the icon empties the coffee pot (that’s what the icon is) and temporarily disables the program. Double-clicking it again refills the pot, and will keep your machine awake.
By default the app starts enabled, and works every 59 seconds.
There are a lot of options, which you can use to customize the application as per your needs and requirements.
